This year I've been writing regularly for Astrobites. We take recently published papers and summarise them in something like 1000 words ('we' being PhD students from around the world). It's pitched at the undergraduate level and I try to use my articles to convey some interesting physics before looking at the specific results of whichever paper I'm writing about. The new article is entitled It's a tough life for a small galaxy and is about a paper that hit the internet on Friday morning. The paper takes a detailed look at dwarf elliptical galaxies, which are actually the most common type of galaxy.
(image credit: Johannes Schedler, Panther Observatory) At first sight they're maybe not the most interesting things in space, but there's some interesting physics in there. EDIT: to my great pleasure, Astrobitos have translated my article into Spanish! You can read it here: Es una vida difícil para una galaxia pequeña
